Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is still in need of an opponent for his upcoming retirement fight.
Expected to headline UFC London, in March, “The Count” was reportedly booked against Vitor Belfort, who is also seeking an opponent for his retirement bout.
The MMA Media at Brazil’s Globo reported today that the fight had been booked. Usually, when a fight involves a Brazilian, Globo is spot on.
Today though, there were apparently wrong, as Bisping has flat out denied that he’s fighting Vitor Belfort.
Furthermore, Bisping blasted the man who ruined his vision with a head kick, stating, “I detest Vitor. Do not want to be associated with him in the slightest.”
Belfort was supposed to compete in Sunday’s co-main event against Uriah Hall. The bout got cancelled when Hall reportedly broke out into seizure due to an extreme weight cut.
With Vitor now in limbo without an opponent for his final UFC bout, the Bisping vs. Belfort rematch made perfect sense.
However, in the absence of being able to rely on Globo’s report, the one man we can rely on has reported on the bout, which has now been debunked as not happening.
Check it out:
A report surfaced earlier today that Michael Bisping v Vitor Belfort is in the works for London in March. I asked @bisping if that was true. He said 100% not true. He also said, “I detest Vitor. Do not want to be associated with him in the slightest.”
