After what’s been nearly a month of declining Dana White’s offer to fight UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, UFC female featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has apparently had a change of heart and agreed to face her fellow Brazilian.
At first, Cyborg did not want the fight, because she did not want to fight another female from Brazil.
Then, she declined the fight because Amanda Nunes does not have any recent wins in the featherweight division.
Cyborg spent the last three weeks campaigning for the UFC to legitimize her division by signing more fighters to it, because at present Cris Cyborg is the only woman in the featherweight division, and the UFC’s official rankings at female featherweight are completely blank.
All that aside, Cyborg released a statement just moments ago, confirming she’s accepted the fight.
Check it out:
I have agreed to fight Amanda Nunes Leoa July 7th in Las Vegas as part of #UFC226 and #InternationalFightWeek. I am now waiting for my manager to work with the UFC on a bout agreement so we can make #CyborgVNunes #TheSuperFight official. #CyborgNation us versus them!
Another super fight for the same week was recently suggested by Demetrious Johnson. Who has chosen the same date to accept a fight against TJ Dillashaw.
