UFC President Dana White revealed this week that Amanda Nunes vs. Cris Cyborg was all but locked, and the fight would be on as soon as Nunes could get ready for it.
In a statement to Yahoo sports, Dana said, “First of all Amanda Nunes wants to fight her.” As transcribed by MMAImports.com. “Amanda Nunes wants to fight Cyborg. That is the fight to make, and that is the fight I will make. That’s the fight.”
“Amanda Nunes is a big, strong powerful puncher. I Think she matches up very will with Cyborg too, and that’s a fun fight. That’s the fight to make.
“Cyborg wants to fight. We’ll get her a fight as soon as we can get it done. As soon as Amanda can prepare and get ready for this fight we’re ready to role!”
Almost as soon as Dana uttered these words, Cyborg backed them down, stating she would not fight Amanda Nunes. Since then she’s been on a campaign about how the UFC needs to allow her to face a bunch of females who have never fought inside the UFC’s Octagon.
In response, Amanda Nunes hit twitter on Friday, explaining why her vs. Cyborg is the right fight. And now, Cris Cyborg has responded to Nunes, and she’s still not interested.
Here’s the exchange:
First of all, I have nothing personal against @criscyborg I do believe it is the fight that everyone wants to see and a fight where we can both leave our marks on this sport.
