Thanks to his own admission, Francis Ngannou revealed that he may have underestimated UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, and if that’s the case it showed.
UFC President Dana White’s post-fight reaction was something similar. As the company hyped Ngannou as the second coming of Mike Tyson in the lead up to UFC 220.
Instead, Ngannou would get soundly dominated by Miocic, and lose devastatingly from bell to bell.
Taking to the post show on FOX Sports 1, Dana White revealed what he thinks went wrong.
“Ngannou Took The Last Two Weeks Off To Go To France; Nobody Knew Why He Did It” … “That’s a lot of muscle to carry around for five rounds.”
Here’s the replay of Dana White’s remarks.
"I don't see why he couldn't fight at heavyweight."@danawhite asked @dc_mma if he'd be interested in a title shot with @StipeMiocicUFC. Can we get this, please? #UFC220 https://t.co/FljOglKMIB

Ngannou was defeated in the UFC 220 main event, and it wasn’t even close. The champion effectively mixed strikes and takedowns to thoroughly dominate the challenger in route to running away with a unanimous decision victory.
