Bellator MMA is in Inglewood, Calif. tonight, Jan. 20, for yet another entertaining night of fights. The mixed martial arts promotion is hosting Bellator 192 inside the The Forum, as fight fans are now tuning in to the event’s main card on Paramount Network.
Continuing the exciting night of fights, lightweights Michael Chandler and Goiti Yamauchi are throwing down for division dominance.
The fight opened at a methodical pace, as the two mixed martial arts warriors began to test each other’s range. Chandler began to walk down his opponent, popping off tough jabs all the while.
Chandler then managed to catch Yamauchi off balance and pushed the fighter to the canvas. Chandler entered his opponent’s guard and began throwing down some serious ground and pound.
With just under two minute left in the round, Yamauchi continued to struggle to escape the punishing position of his opponent. Chandler began to pummel Yamauchi with powerful strikes from the ground.
It was seemingly a dominant round for Chandler, as Yamauchi was unable to escape his opponent after being brought to the canvas.
The second round kicked off at a faster pace, as Yamauchi was looking to come back from the difficult first round.
Yamauchi struck Chandler with a brutal head kick that stunned the fighter, sending Chandler a few steps back. Yamauchi doubled down with a flying knee that connected on his opponent.
However, Chandler quickly succeeded in a takedown attempt, once again entering the fighter’s guard.
With two minutes left in the round, Chandler continued to pummel Yamauchi from the top position. Yamauchi was unable to escape the position all the way to the sound of the bell.
Chandler began walking down his opponent in the opening moments of the final round, but Yamauchi quickly retaliated with a strong counter.
The fight was momentarily brought to a halt, as Yamauchi was dealt an accidental eye poke. After taking a moment to recuperate, the two mixed martial arts warriors went back to the action.
After a short exchange on the feet, Chandler managed to once again get Yamauchi to the canvas. From the fighter’s guard, Chandler went back to pummeling Yamauchi with ground and pound.
Yamauchi seemed to be bloodied and stunned by Chandler’s onslaught of hammer fists. However, Chandler was unable to get a finish before the end of the match.
