Professional strongman Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson is perhaps most famous for his work on the hit HBO television series Game of Thrones. On the show, Björnsson plays the role of The Mountain.
With that in mind, Björnsson has also accomplished some other incredible feats in his career. The strongman shattered a 1000-year-old record at the World’s Strongest Viking competition in 2015, Björnsson where carried a 1,430 pound and 33 foot long log five steps.
UFC superstar Conor McGregor managed to land a sparring session with the professional strongman. “Notorious” appeared to be getting the better of his opponent in the sparring session. However, Björnsson has come forward to reveal that he was not going 100 percent during the training session.
In an interview with GQ, Björnsson laughed when asked about the sparring session with Conor McGregor.
“He was trying to punch me. I didn’t feel anything.” He said.
When asked for his thoughts on the sparring session, Björnsson added:
“He believes he won it. He does not know that I was taking it easy on him because he has a fight and I didn’t want to break him before the fight. He’s worked too much, so I didn’t want to break him.”
