UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic made UFC history over the weekend. The reigning champion shut down rising knockout artist Francis Ngannou in dominant fashion, as can be seen in a newly released highlight coverage of the match up.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted UFC 220 on Saturday, Jan. 20. The event was headlined with a heavyweight war between Stipe Miocic and rising title challenger Francis Ngannou.
The UFC’s promotion of the event received some heat from fight fans for being allegedly biased towards the title challenger, especially after Ngannou’s knockout victory over Alistair Overeem. Miocic would even go on to criticize the UFC for their promotion of the event.
Still, Miocic broke the record for most consecutive UFC heavyweight title defenses with his third victory at UFC 220. After getting into a five round war with Ngannou, Miocic ultimately walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
