The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is potentially negotiating for an exciting pair of coaches to appear on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. This time around, a new rumor is churning that Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier are being considered for the positions.
UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier each put on dominant performances at the recent event UFC 220. Miocic earned a unanimous decision victory over rising knockout artist Francis Ngannou, while Cormier took out tough contender Volkan Oezdemir with a second round TKO.
Following the event, UFC President Dana White revealed that he is interested in seeing Miocic and Cormier face off in a super fight. After all, Cormier was originally a heavyweight competitor in the sport of mixed martial arts.
With that in mind, the UFC is currently looking for a new pair of coaches for the next season of the promotion’s hit reality television show The Ultimate Fighter. The season finale for the show’s tournament often goes down during the summer’s International Fight Week.
Dana White has been showing a recent passion for super fights, as the UFC president is already looking to lock in two other epic title fights for International Fight Week. UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg recently accepted a challenge to face off against UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, with Cyborg targeting a date during International Fight Week for the match up.
Beyond that, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw are looking to throw down during the packed summer event as well.
With the TUF finale often falling on the same week, Dana White heavily pushing for a super fight between Cormier and Miocic and two other super fights already targeted for the week, the recent rumor claims Miocic and Cormier may be coaching the new TUF season for an epic finale face off inside the octagon.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has taken to Twitter to reveal that Miocic is currently in negotiations with the UFC in an attempt to restructure his deal. The UFC heavyweight title holder is looking to lock in a raise with the company, raising suspicions that the promotion is gearing up to pin Miocic and Cormier against each other in the future.
Dana White has since come forward in an new interview with TMZ Sports to reveal that the UFC is currently working on something for Miocic.
When asked about Miocic’s future, White said “We’re working on something fun right now … could be Cormier.”
