The UFC’s resident bear wrangler, Russia’s Khabib Nurmagomedov reportedly has a fight booked for April 7 in New York.
And, despite his management’s proclamation that the UFC lightweight star will not fight for an interim world title, that appears to be exactly what’s going to happen. As the Russian media is now reporting that Khabib Nurmagomedov will face Tony Ferguson.
This is ot an official announcement made by the UFC, but as these things go, the Russian media, who beats to their own drum, has become a very reliable source for all things Khabib.
Of course, the unknown variable is if the UFC will indeed strip Conor McGregor prior to this bout happening. If they do, Khabib’s manager is right, as the bout will likely then be billed for the undisputed UFC lightweight world title.
And while the Russian media seems confident in their announcement, as multiple outlets from the region have now reported the same fight on the same date, in the same city, we still encourage our readers to wait for the UFC’s official word before booking plane tickets and hotel reservations.
Here’s one of the multiple reports coming out of Russian:
Khabib will be fighting with Ferguson on April 7 in the New York, Zabit Magomedsharipov will also participate in this tournment. #ufc
