Despite a recent health scare, UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is now back to training.
Robert Whittaker was initially set to face off against former champion Luke Rockhold for his first title defense. The two would have thrown down at the upcoming UFC 221 event in Perth, Western Australia.
However, Whittaker was pulled from the event after suffering an injury. It would later be revealed that the UFC middleweight champion was stricken with a serious staph infection. UFC President Dana White revealed that the infection had spread to his organs.
With that in mind, it would appear that Robert Whittaker has now returned to training. Taking to Instagram, the champion stated:
“Pumped to get back to work #willbebackstrongerthanever”
UFC 221 will see Luke Rockhold battle tough division contender Yoel Romero for the UFC interim middleweight title. The two will throw down on Feb. 10 inside the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
