The highly acclaimed Sacramento, Calif. training camp Team Alpha Male is home to some of the world’s most talented mixed martial artists. But, even the greatest MMA warriors face losses from time to time. Now UFC’s Cynthia Calvillo has decided to break her silence on the first loss of her career.
Team Alpha Male’s Cynthia Calvillo has been on a tear through the mixed martial arts world, having earned gone on an undefeated six fight winning streak prior to UFC 219. However, the talented fighter suffered the first loss of her career inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Dec. 30, 2017.
UFC 219 hosted a fight card full of exciting match ups. Among them, Calvillo faced off against Carla Esparza in an all out octagon war. The two fighters put on a show for the Las Vegas crowd, with the fight ultimately going the distance.
In the end, Esparza earned a unanimous decision victory over her opponent. Taking to social media, Cynthia Calvillo has decided to come forward with a message concerning the recent loss. Showing her sportsmanship and class, Calvillo stated over Instagram:
“Rough night. Hats off to my opponent Carla. It was her night. No excuses. Should never leave it to the judges. I’ll be back stronger and better!
“Thank @ufc for the opportunity and thank you everyone for all the love and support ps. Lost my phone sorry for no replies!! Love you all!!”
