Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is only weeks away from his upcoming interim title fight. With that in mind, the former title holder is perhaps in the best shape of his life.
The UFC middleweight division has been experiencing some turmoil as of late. Georges St-Pierre made his big return to the octagon at UFC 217, moving up in weight to challenge UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for his title.
While St-Pierre would go on to defeat “The Count” for the middleweight title, the fighter would later vacate the belt after suffering colitis. As a result, UFC interim champion Robert Whittaker was upgraded to the undisputed champion.
Whittaker was then set to face off against former title holder Luke Rockhold in a battle to defend his title. However, Whittaker would later be pulled from the fight due to an injury.
Now, Rockhold is facing off against tough division contender Yoel Romero for the interim middleweight title at UFC 221. The pay-per-view event will take place Feb. 10 inside the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia.
