Despite Conor McGregor’s lengthy absence from the UFC, the promotion’s president Dana White can’t move an inch without being asked about his biggest star.
Conor McGregor last fought for the world’s largest Mixed Martial Arts promotion in November of 2016, winning the UFC lightweight title with a second round knockout of Eddie Alvarez.
This win came on the heels of an epic two-fight series between the Irish star and Nate Diaz, breaking both the #1 and #2 records for most bought pay-per-view in UFC history, and cementing McGregor as the sport’s biggest star ever.
Now, in brand new testimony from Dana White, given under oath while the UFC is dealing with their highly publicized anti-trust lawsuit, the UFC president says it was him who made Conor McGregor the super star that he is today.
Check it out:
“Four years ago, Conor McGregor was available to everybody. Bellator, ONE FC, UFC, everybody out there. Do you know who went out- he was- he was 7 and 2, Okay? Guy’s record was 7 and 2. There’s a zillion of them, right? I went out and got Conor McGregor. I saw him, I liked his personality, and I turned him into a star, one of the biggest stars on earth right…”
