For Declining To Fight Overweight Opponent, Dodson Denied Pay By UFC

UFC bantamweight John Dodson will not be receiving a fight purse for his recently cancelled co-main event match up against Pedro Munhoz.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is heading to Belem, Brazil on Saturday night, Feb. 3, for UFC Fight Night 125. The event was initially set to feature a bantamweight war in the night’s co-headliner. John Dodson was locked in to go toe-to-toe with Pedro Munhoz for division dominance.

However, multiple fighters missed weight for the event at Friday’s official weigh-ins. Among them, Pedro Munhoz came in four pounds overweight for his co-main event match up.

Dodson elected to decline the fight in response to Munhoz missing weight for the event. As a result, UFC Fight Night 125 is now short a co-headliner.

As reported by MMA Junkie, neither Dodson nor Munhoz will receive their fight purses for the cancelled match up.
