Team Alpha Male warrior Josh Emmett and Alliance MMA’s Jeremy Stephens threw down inside the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday night, Feb. 24, for the main event of UFC on FOX 28.
Stephens ultimately earned a knockout victory over his opponent in the second. However, the finish has since come under some controversy.
Stephens dropped his opponent to the canvas. From there, the fighter landed a series of seemingly illegal blows to finish Emmett.
Most notably, Stephens landed a knee on an allegedly downed opponent that seemingly struck the fighter on the back of the head. Taking to Instagram, UFC Hall of Famer and Team Alpha Male founder Urijah Faber has come forward with his thoughts on the matter.
“Dominick Cruz and Michael Bisping are f**king blind. That was a knee to the back of the head. He took an illegal knee to the illegal back of the head. Give me a freaking break. Congratulations to Stephens. He fought a good one.”
Michael Bisping and Alliance MMA’s Dominick Cruz were on the UFC on FOX crew during the event and both fighters offered their thoughts on the matter. Cruz largely expressed that the decision is up to the referee if the strike is illegal or not, deferring to the fight’s knockout decision.
