This weekend’s UFC 221 event is headlined by an interim middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero.
This is a replacement main event, following GSP’s vacating of his belt, and Robert Whittaker’s withdrawal with an illness.
With the UFC intent on making this weekend’s fight card a pay-per-view event, at the final hour they placed Yoel Romero opposite Luke Rockhold and decided to put up an interim belt in the process.
