By all accounts, former UFC lightweight world champion Rafael dos Anjos is the UFC’s rightful next up for a shot at Tyron Woodley’s welterweight world title.
However, as Woodley revealed this afternoon to ESPN, that’s not first on the UFC or the champ’s agenda, as the promotion has apparently offered Nate Diaz a title shot, and that’s the fight that Tyron Woodley wants.
Woodley is looking for a named opponent that he can get famous off of. Something the fans will buy, watch, and build his name up. And while Rafael dos Anjos presents a noteworthy challenge, he is nowhere near the super star that Nate Diaz is.
Still though, dos Anjos was promised a title shot by the UFC brass, so today’s news that Nate has been offered his fight, is not sitting well with the Brazilian, who is coming off a dominant win over Robbie Lawler.
Earlier today the UFC on FOX official twitter account sent out a tweet, asking to rate the proposed Woodley vs. Diaz title fight on a scale of 1-10.
And in a not so subtle response, RDA rated it a flat zero.
It’s funny, but not to RDA.
