Military veteran and mixed martial arts warrior Tim Kennedy has come forward with a heated message for UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero.
Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero have a bit of a history. The two fighters threw down back at UFC 178 in 2014. Romero would go on to earn a TKO victory over his opponent in the third round. However, the victory was soon shrouded in controversy.
Tim Kennedy rocked Yoel Romero near the end of the second round. Romero spent the round seemingly dazed on his stool.
When the fighters were alerted that it was time to stand up and approach for the third round, Romero remained on his stool. The fighter did so for nearly an entire minute, offering Romero extra time to recover from Kennedy’s stunning strike.
Romero’s corner was informed to wipe the excess Vaseline from their fighter during the break between rounds, but failed to do so. As a result, Romero was granted the extra time as the cornermen wiped him down.
Leading up to Romero’s recent headlining match up against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221, Tim Kennedy made sure to let his thoughts on the fight be known.
“Cheering for @LukeRockhold tomorrow night. Hope they have to carry @YoelRomeroMMA out on a stretcher and hope that the medics slip on the way out. #ufc221”
