One of the headliner’s for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next big card was once fined for honoring their grandmother inside the octagon. UFC welterweight Donald Cerrone has since come forward with the details on the incident.
Donald Cerrone is set to headline UFC Fight Night 126. In some way, “Cowboy” always finds an outlet to honor his grandmother during his fight nights. While the fighter will likely find some way to do so in his upcoming main event, Cerrone may have to change his tactics.
Back at UFC on FOX 17, Donald Cerrone decided to wear a patch made by his grandmother on his shorts. The fighter has worn the patch many fights before. However, the UFC’s uniform deal with Reebok has since forced fighters to compete exclusively with the fight kits provided by the sport’s apparel company.
As a result, Cerrone was fined for donning the patch. The exact total of the fine has not been released, but “Cowboy” has since taken to social media to offer some details on the matter.
Taking to Twitter, Cerrone answered one fan’s question when asked about the total of the fine.
“Let’s just say a LOT. Think of a number then double it.” Cerrone stated over the social media platform. The fighter then revealed that he plans to “continue to take the fine.”
Well, “Cowboy” will have another chance to honor his grandmother when he steps inside the octagon to face Yancy Medeiros for UFC Fight Night 126. The event will take place Feb. 18 inside the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
