Cris Cyborg Under Fire After Beating Another Bantamweight, Then Calling Out Another Smaller Fighter

Women’s UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is getting some heat from fight fans for her most recent call out.

Cris Cyborg initially gave the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) an ultimatum. Frustrated with the lack of competitors readily available in the new weight class, the title holder demanded that the UFC focus on adding new women’s featherweight fighters to the roster or she would move to competing promotion Bellator MMA.

After all, Cyborg earned the women’s UFC featherweight title by defeating former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger. The fighter would go on to defend her title from former women’s UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm.

Most recently, Cris Cyborg defended her title from yet another native bantamweight competitor. This time around, the title holder faced off against former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya.

Cyborg made short work of her opponent, earning a TKO victory within the first round. During her post-fight interview, Cyborg then decided to call out yet another native bantamweight competitor.

Reigning women’s UFC bantamaweight champion Amanda Nunes has been hunting for a super fight against Cris Cyborg for sometime now. Following UFC 222, Cyborg revealed that Nunes is now next on her list.

“I wait for Amanda.” Cyborg told Joe Rogan in her post-fight interview. “Amanda called me out and now I’m here waiting on her.”
