UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is gearing up to finally face top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the octagon. Now one of Ferguson’s training partners has come forward with his opinion on the match up.
Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will face off for the undisputed lightweight title at UFC 223, following multiple scrapped attempts to get “El Cucuy” and Nurmagomedov inside the octagon. The live pay-per-view event will take place April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Fellow UFC fighter and training partner to Tony Ferguson, Alan Jouban recently offered his prediction for the match up. While the fighter ultimately sided with teammate, Jouban revealed that he would bet on Ferguson’s opponent if money was involved.
Jouban and Ferguson are teammates at Eddie Bravo’s highly popular 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, creating an awkward moment for Jouban when the fighter decided to almost side with Nurmagomedov for UFC 223.
“I can’t go against Tony, because he is going to be pissed at me if he sees this.” Jouban said. “But if I was putting money on it in Vegas, I might go with Khabib. Because my boy is Tony, I’m going with Tony.”
