Fighter Taps Out, Takes A Loss, To Save His Opponent From A Bad Referee

Mixed martial arts referees have demanding jobs. As the third person inside the cage, the referee has to see and hear everything going on at any moment. If not, it can spell disaster for one of the night’s competitors.

Mike Pantangco can be seen within the video above facing off against Jeremy Raser for a PCFL event. Pantangco rocked his opponent early in the fight, but the bout continued.

Raser was seemingly unable to intelligently defend himself, as the fighter began stumbling around the mat. After a few moments of going toe-to-toe with the fighter, Pantangco elected to put a stop to the contest himself.

The fighter shifted down to the canvas and tapped out, rather than cause Raser any more punishment. Check out the incredible moment of sportsmanship within the video above.
