UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently gearing up to take on Tony Ferguson for the undisputed UFC lightweight title. With that in mind, “The Eagle” has now taken to social media to boast about his training.
Nurmagomedov and now reigning UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson have been scheduled to fight multiple times. However, injuries and other issues have kept the fighters from ever meeting inside the octagon.
Now the two are set to fight for the undisputed lightweight title at UFC 223. The event will take place April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In preparation for the fight, Nurmagomedov is hard in training with his longtime teammates at American Kickboxing Academy. There, the UFC lightweight trains alongside the likes of UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
With that in mind, Nurmagomedov is now claiming to be the first and only fighter to ever knock down kickboxing phenom Javier Mendez. However, the fighter believes revealing the information may get him in a little trouble.
“Coach @akajav I know you two time kickboxing World Champ, and you never been knockdown, but please tell the people, what happened after this punch. I know you going to be angry with me, even …..”
