After taking over the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, former ADCC champion Mackenzie Dern has elected to try her skills at the sport of mixed martial arts. Freshly signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) with a single octagon performance already on her resume, Dern has decided to offer her next opponent a message.
Mackenzie Dern locked in a fight contract with the UFC late last year after putting on a five fight winning streak as a professional fighter. The former No. 1 ranked IBJJF black belt made her octagon debut against Ashley Yoder, earning a split decision victory over the fighter after going the distance in a tough battle.
Now undefeated with a 6-0 record, Dern is set to face off against Amanda Bobby Cooper at UFC 224. The two mixed martial arts warriors will throw down May 12 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Mackenzie Dern revealed that she has no interest in allowing Cooper the opportunity to derail her proverbial hype train.
“No. It’s going to keep going, like ‘Choo Choo.'” Dern said. For the fighter’s full thoughts, check out the video below:
