Women’s UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas shocked the world when she finished formerly dominant title holder Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. With the two mixed martial arts warriors now set to compete in an immediate rematch for the title, Namajunas has come forward with her thoughts on what she is looking to happen in their upcoming match up.
Prior to UFC 217, Joanna Jedrzejczyk had never been defeated in her mixed martial arts career. The fighter had garnered a stunning professional record of 14-0 with victories over some of the toughest and most talented fighters that the world’s most famous MMA promotion had to offer.
That being said, Rose Namajunas earned a first round TKO victory over the fighter at UFC 217, earning Namajunas the women’s UFC strawweight title. Now Jedrzejczyk and Namajunas are set to throw down once again to settle the score.
The two fighters will face off at UFC 223. The live pay-per-view event will take place April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Speaking to MMA Weekly, Rose Namajunas offered some of her thoughts on the upcoming match up. For the newly crowned champion, it is all about improving.
“That is the only thing that is going to be different.” Namajunas said. “It is making sure that I am taking it to the next level everyday and trying to incorporate new techniques all the time, as much as I can.”
