Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is making headlines for a fracas that occurred inside a loading dock in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 5. The incident left multiple individuals injured and “Notorious” facing misdemeanor and felony charges.
Bellator’s Paul Daley was once a UFC competitor. However, the fighter was banned from the octagon for life after punching Josh Koscheck directly after the fight ending bell of their UFC 113 match up. The fighter was dragged away from Koscheck by referee Dan Miragliotta.
During the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White claimed that Daley would never compete inside the octagon ever again.
“I don’t care if he fights in every show all over the world and becomes the best and everybody thinks he is the pound-for-pound best in the world,” White said. “He will never fight in the UFC again.”
Of course, Conor McGregor is facing a felony charge for criminal mischief and three misdemeanor charges for assault after smashing through a bus window with a hand truck. With all of that in mind, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is showing no signs of putting forth any punitive measures whatsoever concerning the Irish native.
Speaking to USA Today, Paul Daley offered his thoughts on the matter.
“Was what McGregor did worse? Yes, of course it is. He and his team forced themselves into the Barclays Center, they attacked a bus of people. Me and Koscheck? It is completely different.
“I knew it was going to play out the way it did. The difference between me and McGregor is the amount of money that McGregor brings to the UFC. That’s it. That’s always going to be the case.”
