Dillon Danis first took the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by storm. After taking on some of the sport’s toughest and most talented competitors, Danis quickly gained attention from fans within the mixed martial arts world for being the BJJ coach to none other than UFC megastar Conor McGregor.
Well, Danis finally had his moment inside the cage over the weekend. Bellator MMA was in Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday, April 28, to host Bellator 198 inside the Allstate Arena.
Danis made his big mixed martial arts debut on the night’s card. The fighter faced off against Kyle Walker, who was 2-3 in his fighting career ahead of Bellator 198. Walker suffered a submission loss in his last two bouts.
Danis made short work of the fighter, earning a submission victory within the first round by way of toe hold. Directly after the fight, Danis made a point to toss undefeated semi-retired former ONE welterweight champion Ben Askren’s name into the mix as a possible next opponent.
Ben Askren has now taken to social media to provide a response to the statement. Over Twitter, the dominant welterweight stated:
“He realizes this isn’t reality so he feels safe doing so. Maybe he should fight someone with a winning record first.”
