It’s been a week of turmoil for UFC 223 headliner Khabib Nurmagomedov, and it’s not slowing down.
According to new reports, the UFC cannot locate their star headliner today, and the Russian UFC star has skipped out on all of his UFC obligated appearances ahead of this weekend’s UFC 223 event.
Typically, when tasked with a headlining role on a UFC card, fighters are obligated to make multiple media appearances to promote the night’s fight card.
Instead, it would appear as if Khabib has skipped out on everything, making himself unavailable to even his UFC superiors.
As it stands right now, the UFC has officially cancelled all of today’s media obligations for the UFC title challenger.
No additional details have been provided by the promotion.
Khabib was originally scheduled to face UFC interim lightweight world champion Tony Ferguson in the UFC 223 main event. Instead, on six days notice, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has stepped up to fill a vacancy left by Ferguson, who pulled out of the contest with an injury.
UFC 223 goes down this Saturday, from the Barclay Center, in Brooklyn, New York. The night’s main card airs live on pay-per-view.
