The fallout from Conor McGregor’s melee at the UFC 223 media day, has had severe consequences.
The most immediate of which is this Saturday’s UFC 223 fight card has received an overhaul, after three fight cancellations have come down the pipe.
Conor McGregor teammate Artem Lobov was first to be pulled from his scheduled featherweight bout against Alex Cacares. The cause for his removal was because he was by Conor’s side during the incident.
The next fight to be cancelled is the highly anticipated lightweight tilt between Michael Chiesa and Anthony Pettis. Chiesa was pulled from the bout due to facial lacerations sustained during Conor’s attack on the bus.
The third fight cancelled as a result of Conor McGregor’s attack is the flyweight contest between Ray Borg and Alex Moreno.
ESPN broke the news on twitter:
Per sources, Chiesa/Pettis and Borg/Moreno are both off. Chiesa’s facial cuts, and his weight cut was thrown off. Borg started to experience problems with his eye, from the particles of glass.
