UFC superstar Conor McGregor caused quite a stir when he decided to pay the Barclays Center a surprise visit on Thursday, April 5. Following an incident that left multiple fighters injured, McGregor’s mother has offered a reaction.
“Notorious” and a large group of the fighter’s entourage were in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday. Making their way backstage of the Barclays Center during the UFC 223 Media Day, the group allegedly attacked a bus full of fighters set to compete at UFC 223.
Multiple fighters were injured during the attack, including Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg. Both fighters were pulled from their respective match ups for Saturday night, April 7, due to their injuries.
Conor McGregor would later turn himself in to local police. The Irish native is now facing three misdemeanor charges of assault and a felony charge of criminal mischief.
Having made his $50,000 bail, “Notorious” is now free to travel internationally until his next court date. McGregor will be due to return to the courtroom on June 14. Beyond that, McGregor was stripped of his UFC lightweight title on Saturday, April 7, following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s victory over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223.
Conor McGregor’s mother Margaret McGregor took to her Instagram immediately following her son’s arrest with a picture of the two together and a message that read,
“I love you Conor”
She would later delete the post.
