Dana White: ‘I Asked Woodley To Fight, But He Came Back With A Doctor’s Note’

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is currently healing up from a recent shoulder surgery. The fighter would go on to question the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s decision to form an interim title fight, but it would appear that Woodley may have been declining fight offers.

The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion has locked down an interim welterweight title fight between Colby Covington and former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos for UFC 225.

The highly anticipated fight card goes down June 9 inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Speaking on UFC Tonight, UFC President Dana White revealed that the UFC has been attempting to lock down a fight for Tyron Woodley. However, the fighter has been declining fights due to his injury.

“Tyron Woodley, we were trying to get him to fight,” White said. “He came back with a doctor’s note that says he is injured and cannot fight until August.”
