Ferguson Refutes Dana White’s Claim That Sunglasses Indoors Caused Injury

UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has been receiving some heat ever since pulling out of his upcoming title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now the fighter has come forward to squash a rumor concerning the situation.

Tony Ferguson was locked in to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223. Just six days ahead of the fight, Ferguson tripped over a cable at a recent media event and tripped.

“El Cucuy” tore his LCL during the incident, leading to the fight’s cancellation. Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have now been scheduled to fight and cancelled on four different occasions.

It has since been reported that Ferguson will be stripped of his interim title alongside Conor McGregor of his undisputed title as soon as UFC 223’s main event begins. Nurmagomedov will now be facing UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway for the lightweight title.

Concerning Ferguson’s seeming freak accident, it has been reported that UFC President Dana White claimed Ferguson was wearing his signature sunglasses while indoors, possibly leading to the bizarre injury.

Taking to Instagram, Ferguson has now decided to clear the air and state that he is in fact not wearing sunglasses at the time.

“You Can Keep Throwin’ Shade, But I Wasn’t Wearing Any.”
