It would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) may now be looking to lock down another title fight for Valentina Shevchenko.
Former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko made a successful debut in the women’s flyweight division back at UFC Fight Night 125. The fighter put on a dominant performance over Priscila Cachoeira, ultimately earning a second round submission victory.
Shevchenko quickly started a campaign for the title, as the fighter is seemingly determined to make her way to being a UFC champion. Well, now it would appear that the fighter may get another shot.
Taking to Twitter, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has reported that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is allegedly looking to lock down a title fight between inaugural UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montaño an Valentina Shevchenko.
The fight would take place at UFC on FOX 30 inside the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada. While the fight has yet to be made official, the bout would allegedly take the main event slot for the upcoming fight card.
Check out Helwani’s initial report of the possible match up down below:
The UFC’s long-awaited return to Calgary is officially official. No main event announced, though I’m told the hope is to book Nicco Montaño vs. Valentina Shevchenko for the women’s flyweight title in that spot. Not finalized yet but that’s what they want. https://t.co/yEN7el8vYZ
