UFC superstar Conor McGregor made headlines last week when he decided to lead a large entourage backstage at the Barclays Center, ending in a fracas that left multiple individuals injured. Now Michael Bisping has come forward to answer a question concerning the possibility of “Notorious” being involved in an Irish gang.
On Thursday, April 5, McGregor and a large group of individuals made their way backstage of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York during the UFC 223 Media Day event. The group then allegedly attacked a bus full of fighters scheduled to compete at UFC 223.
Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg suffered injuries that forced them off of the UFC 223 fight card, making for just two of the individuals affected by the incident. Conor McGregor later turned himself in to local authorities.
The Irish native is now facing misdemeanor assault charges and a felony charge of criminal mischief. TMZ Sports recently stopped to ask former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping a few questions on the matter.
Asking Bisping if it is possible Conor McGregor is involved in an Irish gang, “The Count” responded:
“There are no gangs in MMA. There’s gangs in England. There’s gangs in Dublin. There’s gangs all over the world, just like right here. There are no gangs in MMA.
“Conor is not trying to be a gangster. Conor is just trying to look after his boys.”
