Undefeated Dagestani native Khabib Nurmagomedov put on a dominant performance over Al Iaquinta for the UFC lightweight title back at UFC 223. Now the newly crowned title holder has decided to offer UFC superstar Conor McGregor an ultimatum.
With “Notorious” having not competed inside the octagon since winning the lightweight belt back in 2016, the UFC elected to strip the Irish native of his title in order to allow Nurmagomedov the opportunity to fight for the belt at UFC 223.
Beyond that, “The Eagle” and Conor McGregor have not been on the best of terms as of late. Nurmagomedov had a physical confrontation with McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov in a hotel days ahead of UFC 223. “Notorious” retaliated by leading a large entourage to allegedly attack a bus filled with UFC fighters, including Nurmagomedov.
As seen in the video above, “The Eagle” has decided to give McGregor until the end of the year to step inside the octagon with him.
“We’re talking, but if it takes too long, I don’t want to do that.” Nurmagomedov stated. “If he wants to fight this year, then we can fight. Otherwise, I don’t know. We won’t wait long. I want to fight Conor and if he can fight, I will fight him.”
