Things are just not going Tony Ferguson’s way at the moment. The UFC interim lightweight champion has been pulled from his highly anticipated title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now Nurmagomedov’s manager has decided to come forward with a critical statement concerning “El Cucuy.”
Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were initially set to face off for the undisputed UFC lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223. Just six days away from the highest profile fight of his career, Ferguson tore his LCL after tripping at a media event.
This makes for the fourth scheduled match up between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov to be cancelled, with the fighters having yet to ever meet inside the octagon. Now Nurmagomedov will face UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway for the undisputed UFC lightweight title.
Taking to Twitter, Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz offered a heated message concerning Tony Ferguson’s injury.
“A very reliable source just told me @TonyFergusonXT tripped and injured himself in the fox lot doing an interview. Hire a damn walking coach”
