After a crazy week of blowback, Max Holloway is out of his scheduled UFC 223 main event against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The UFC featherweight champion agreed to fight Khabib for the UFC lightweight world title on just six days notice.
We learned earlier this week that Max would undergo a 31 pound weight cut to make championship weight.
The New York Athletic Commission, along with UFC officials, ruled Max medically unclear to fight on the morning of weigh-ins.
With the decision out of his hands, Holloway issued the following statement to Khabib.
Check it out:
. @TeamKhabib my brother I want to keep going but they are stopping me. Sorry to your team and the fans. You don’t deserve this. This is number one. Shout outs to you and @Showtimepettis . Give the fans what they deserve
