Rose Namajunas Does It Again, Takes Out Joanna Jedrzejczyk In Co-Main Event | UFC Results

The time has finally come. Reigning women’s UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is set to face off against former title holder Joanna Jedrzejczyk in an immediate rematch.

Namajunas shocked the world when she finished the formerly undefeated champion, 14-0, Joanna Jedrzejczyk back at UFC 217. Jedrzejczyk was quickly going down as one of the most dominant champions in the UFC, when Namajunas finished the fighter with a TKO in the first round of their title fight.

Now the two mixed martial artists are having an immediate rematch in the co-main event of UFC 223 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Check out the UFC results from the match up down below.

The first round sparked with an intensity. Jedrzejczyk kicked things off with her Muay Thai striking prowess. However, Namajunas refused to back down and retaliated with some powerful strikes of her own. This round will be a tough five minutes for the judges.

Namajunas began to get the better of her opponent in the exchanges during the second round, pummeling Jedrzejczyk with punches that began to redden the former champion’s face. Jedrzejczyk continued to trade with Namajunas, but was getting repeatedly clipped with the left hook that took the fighter out in their first match up. This was seemingly a big round for the reigning champion.

Jedrzejczyk began to regain her confidence in the third round, opening up with more combinations in her striking. However, Namajunas was not backing down. The champion continued to land bombs on her opponent in a consistent fashion. This will be a tough round to call.

In the opening championship round, Jedrzejczyk began to push the pace. The former title holder appeared to be the fresher of the two fighters, as Namajunas began to be a less mobile target. This fight is seemingly becoming closer and closer on the scorecards.

Neither competitor was interested in slowing down in the final round. Namajunas began to improve her footwork and pick up the pace in the final five minutes, dishing out more of her powerful left hooks to Jedrzejczyk. Namajunas snagged a takedown in the final minute. However, the fighter was unable to get a finish before the end of the match.

This one has gone the distance.
