Former women’s UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk had another shot for her title over the weekend. However, things once again did not go the fighter’s way. Now statistics from the fight have been revealed.
Rose Namajunas first shocked the world when she finished Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217 for the title. With a first round TKO, Namajunas put an end to the champion’s 14-0 undefeated streak.
The two mixed martial artists had an immediate rematch at UFC 223 on Saturday, April 7. This time around, the fight went the distance. In the end, Namajunas earned a unanimous decision victory over her opponent.
Jedrzejczyk would go on to criticize the judges’ scoring, as the fighter believes she won the match. As seen within the image below, as provided by fightmetric.com, Jedrzejczyk landed more significant strikes than her opponent.
While Jedrzejczyk landed more strikes, the fighter’s hits were mostly leg kicks. Namajunas, however, was landing power punches to her opponent’s head. By the end of the fight, Jedrzejczyk was beaten and bruised from the power punches, while Namajunas was seemingly just gassed by the intense rounds of fighting.
While the stats seemingly aid Jedrzejczyk’s argument at first, the fighter’s ability to do damage to her opponent was just not quite as significant.
