The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was sent into a stir over the weekend when UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson pulled out of his upcoming title fight. Now a video of opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov’s reaction to the news has made its way onto the internet.
Undefeated UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson were locked in to compete for the undisputed lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223. However, on just six days notice, “El Cucuy” tripped over a cable during a recent media event and tore his LCL.
With Ferguson having been pulled from the fight, Nurmagomedov and “El Cucuy” have been scheduled to fight and ultimately cancelled from ever meeting inside the octagon a staggering total of four times. Nurmagomedov is now set to take on UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway in the night’s main event.
UFC 223 goes down April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view. Check out a video of Nurmagomedov’s initial response to Ferguson being pulled out of UFC 223 within the clip above.
