Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is set to war against controversial fighter Colby Covington for the interim welterweight title. Now the former title holder has come forward with a few words concerning the upcoming match up.
Dos Anjos and Covington are currently set to throw down in the co-main event of the highly anticipated UFC 224 fight card. Covington is riding a five fight winning streak, having most recently earned a decision victory over Demian Maia. Dos Anjos earned a decision victory of his own over Robbie Lawler, cementing his three fight winning streak.
UFC 224 will be available live on pay-per-view and is set to take place May 12 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Of course, the last time Covington competed in Brazil there was a bit of controversy.
In his post fight interview at UFC Sao Paulo after defeating Demian Maia, Covington called Brazil a “dump” and the Brazilian crowd “filthy animals.” The fighter has drawn the ire of some of his fellow fighters ever since.
Speaking to reporter Helen Yee, Brazilian native Rafael dos Anjos revealed that he plans to silence the fighter’s recent controversial remarks.
“Especially against this kind of guy. He’s been talking bad about the Brazilians. Talking a lot of crap. Just go there and shut his mouth.” dos Anjos stated. Check out the fighter’s full thoughts within the video below:
