UFC women’s strawweights Amanda Cooper and Mackenzie Dern are set to face off over the weekend. Following Dern’s missed weight, Cooper has come forward with some critical words for her upcoming opponent.
UFC 224 is set to go down this Saturday, May 12, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
With the event now drawing near, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted the official weigh-ins on Friday. All fighters made weight for the event except Mackenzie Dern.
Making for the third time in her mixed martial arts career to miss weight, Dern hit the scales at 123 pounds for UFC 224. The fighter was over seven pounds overweight for the strawweight match up.
Cooper has since accepted a catchweight fight against the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom. Dern will be fined a total 30 percent of her fight purse.
Speaking on the UFC Weigh-Ins show via FOX Sports 1, Amanda Cooper had some choice words concerning her opponent.
“I’m already expecting a broken Mackenzie Dern. She couldn’t make the weight. … She missed her flight getting here. That is not a professional. I’m gonna stuff her shots, I’m gonna punch her in the face and I’m gonna break her more than she’s already broken.”
