Former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is now set to make her first octagon performance since going on a two fight losing streak against now reigning champion Rose Namajunas. This time around, the former title holder will be taking on tough division contender Tecia Torres.
Torres and Jedrzejczyk used to share a gym, as Torres was once a member of American Top Team alongside Jedrzejczyk. While Torres has since changed camps, the fighter has now come forward with an interesting story concerning her time alongside the former title holder.
Speaking to media backstage of UFC 224, Torres said:
“She was there for a while before I left, but honestly, she didn’t train with the UFC girls. I don’t know if that’s changed since I left ATT, but she would always do her own thing, or use the, I’ll say, lower-tier girls.”
“We get to train with girls that are the best in the world, at my weight class? Hell yeah, come train with me. But it was different for her. So I never got to train with her, and I really don’t care that I didn’t, because I had awesome teammates.”
Torres and Jedrzejczyk will throw down at UFC on FOX 30. The event will take place July 28 in Calgary, Canada.
