UFC women’s strawweight Mackenzie Dern made her sophomore octagon performance over the weekend. Following the fighter’s big finish victory, Dern has decided to reveal her salary.
Dern went toe-to-toe with Amanda Cooper on the live pay-per-view main card of UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday, May 12. Dern was riding a split decision victory over Ashley Yoder in her octagon debut, putting the undefeated fighter at 6-0 in her mixed martial arts career.
Dern would go on to miss weight for her UFC 224 match up by a staggering total of 7.4 pounds. Cooper went on to accept a catchweight bout against Dern, saving the match from being scratched off the card.
Dern put on a dominant performance over Cooper, ultimately earning a submission victory within the first round. However, the fighter still faced hefty fines for missing weight.
Speaking on the latest edition of The MMA Hour, Dern revealed that she was granted $29,000 in show money, as well as an additional $29,000 for winning the match. In total, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom earned $58,000.00 for the fight. However, not all of the money went to Dern.
The fighter went on to reveal that Amanda Cooper was granted 30 percent of her show money, as well as 15 percent of her win money. Of her show money, Dern was required to forfeit $8,700.00.
Likewise, the fighter granted Cooper $4,350.00 of her win money. All in all, Dern granted Cooper $13,050 in fines for her missed weight.
Still, Mackenzie Dern walked away with a grand total of $44,950.00 for her second octagon performance.
