There has been some turmoil concerning the highly anticipated rematch between former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier as of late. Now UFC superstar Nate Diaz has come forward with his thoughts on the matter.
Dustin Poirier has been asking for a rematch against his former opponent ever since their fight was called to a controversial no contest after Alvarez struck him with a series of illegal knees. Instead of an immediate rematch, Alvarez would go on to coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
After fighting fellow TUF coach Justin Gaethje, Alvarez finally accepted a rematch against his opponent. However, Poirier then decided to decline the fight.
Poirier initially gave Alvarez a deadline to face him. Having not met the deadline, the fighter denied Alvarez a chance to take him on again.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has since worked out the fighters’ issues and the match is now set for UFC Calgary. Taking to social media, Nate Diaz decided to offer his thoughts on the booking fiasco.
