Mixed martial arts fans flocked to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil over the weekend for an incredible night of fights. With the stunning fight night having now come to a close, the time has come for fans to take a look at one of the night’s most intense finishes.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 224 on Saturday, May 12, for fight fans worldwide. Featured on the night’s live pay-per-view main card, mixed martial arts legend Vitor Belfort went toe-to-toe with fellow former title holder and MMA veteran Lyoto Machida.
Machida made short work of his opponent, earning a second round knockout victory over Belfort. “The Dragon” landed a fight ending front kick on Belfort reminiscent of Anderson Silva’s previous finishing blow over “The Phenom.”
Belfort laid his gloves in the center of the octagon and announced his retirement from the sport of MMA shortly after the fight. Check out a replay from the exciting match up within the video above.
