Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was initially set to face off against Aleksei Oleinik in the headliner for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s big debut in Russia. Following Werdum’s recent flag by USADA, it would appear that another top heavyweight is now destined face Oleinik inside the octagon.
The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion is set to make its big debut in Russia. The UFC will be heading to Moscow on Sept. 15 and is looking to lock down a heavyweight war for the night’s main event.
Werdum was initially given a spot against Aleksei Oleinik for the fight, but the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has since flagged the former champion for a failed drug test. Consequently, Werdum has been pulled from the match up.
As reported by MMA Junkie, Mark Hunt is now being targeted as Werdum’s replacement for the headlining spot against Oleinik.
