On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court rendered that banning sports betting was unconstitutional. Following the denied proposition for a federal ban on sports betting, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has come forward with a statement.
Sports properties such as the NCAA, NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball have all backed the continued prohibition of federal sports betting. On the other hand, the UFC has been in support of permitting sports betting on the federal level.
Following the federal ban being struck down, the UFC offered the following statement to MMA Fighting:
“UFC supports legalized, regulated sports betting, as we have seen firsthand in Nevada the success of well-regulated gaming,” the statement read. “We look forward to working with Congress and state legislatures to support policy that ensures the integrity of our sport and makes the best sense for our fans and our business.”
