UFC superstar Conor McGregor has taken the world of mixed martial arts by storm. That being said, former UFC lightweight champion and mixed martial arts veteran Rafael dos Anjos has now come forward with a few words on McGregor’s run inside the octagon.
Conor McGregor is the first and only fighter to ever simultaneously hold two UFC division titles. “Notorious” famously knocked out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds for the featherweight belt, before moving up to the lightweight division to finish Eddie Alvarez for his belt.
With that in mind, McGregor never defended either title. “Notorious” was stripped of his featherweight belt shortly after earning his lightweight title.
After not defending his lightweight title for two years, the UFC stripped McGregor of his second belt. Speaking at the UFC 225 Media Day, Rafael dos Anjos offered his thoughts on the matter.
“He got his belts, but he hasn’t defended yet.” dos Anjos said. “He beat Aldo. He move move up. He beat Alvarez. I think he got an easy path. He went straight for the title. He didn’t fight the contenders to make it to the title.”
Meanwhile, dos Anjos will be fighting for the UFC interim welterweight title in the co-main event of UFC 225. The former lightweight champion will face off against Colby Covington on June 9, live on pay-per-view.
