Covington Backs Up The Talk, Wins UFC World Title With Win Over RDA | UFC Results

Well, the time has finally come. The UFC interim welterweight belt is now on the line.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is hosting the highly anticipated fight card for UFC 225 tonight, June 9, from within the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Co-headlining the night’s event, highly polarizing mixed martial artist Colby Covington is set to throw down with former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title.

The fight fired off at a blistering pace, as Colby Covington immediately blasted towards his opponent and pressured dos Anjos into the fence. Covington remained relentless with his pressure for the first five minutes of the fight, dishing out a brutal series of strikes.

In the second round, Covington continued to push the pace at a blistering speed. Dos Anjos began to retaliate with a higher frequency of strikes, but seemingly struggled to keep up with his opponent.

The third round featured much of the same. Covington and dos Anjos both seemed fatigued from their high intensity match up. Covington continued to apply pressure, as dos Anjos began to slow down even more.

Dos Anjos returned in the fourth round with a vengeance. The fighter stuck Colby Covington with a stunning right hook. However, Covington quickly began implementing his high pressure tactics again.

This will be another tough round for the judges.

The final round kicked off with Colby Covington pressuring dos Anjos back into the fence, before gaining a takedown over his opponent. Still, neither fighter was able to get a finish before the sound of the bell.

This one has gone the distance.
